Sunday 3rd January 2010

Out twice in 2 days!

A visit today between 9.15 and 11am. Very cold. Most of the lakes either completely or at least 50% iced over. A few sleet showers during my visit after a bright start.

I didn't add too much of interest to yesterday's sightings. Although good to spot Alan Woodcock! No sign of yesterday's Smew in a brief scan of Abbey Mead but it is flighty. A few Siskin around and nice to see good numbers of Reed Bunting - I noted at least 6 during my visit. 20+ Teal on the river and 3 Kingfisher were nice to see.
